Valday Tablet 10/160mg is an oral dual fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication containing amlodipine (10mg) and valsartan (160mg). It works through two distinct and complementary mechanisms to control arterial hypertension. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB), selectively inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac tissue. This produces peripheral vasodilation and decreases systemic vascular resistance. Concurrently, Valsartan, a potent angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the subtype receptor in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal glands. This action inhibits angiotensin II–mediated vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, and renal sodium retention without affecting bradykinin breakdown. Together, these combined actions lower blood pressure more effectively than either agent alone.Clinically, Valday is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adult patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy, or as initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple drugs to achieve blood pressure goals.The standard starting dose is 1 tablet taken orally once daily, swallowed whole with water, with or without food.It is contraindicated during pregnancy (due to fetal renal injury risk), severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment, and known hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, or dihydropyridine derivatives. Common side effects include peripheral edema, dizziness, headache, fatigue, flushing, and nasopharyngitis.
