Titan 1000mg IV Injection is a prescription, broad-spectrum antibiotic containing Ceftriaxone Sodium. It belongs to the third-generation cephalosporin class and exerts its bactericidal effect by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby inhibiting bacterial cell wall mucopeptide synthesis and causing cell death. Titan is indicated for moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible organisms, including lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia), intra-abdominal sepsis, complicated urinary tract infections, skin/soft tissue infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, bacterial meningitis, and perioperative surgical prophylaxis. Supplied as a sterile, lyophilized powder, each single-dose vial is typically reconstituted with sterile water for injection or a compatible diluent. For intravenous administration, it must be delivered via slow direct I.V. injection over 2 to 4 minutes, or through an I.V. infusion over at least 30 minutes. It is strictly contraindicated in patients with known cephalosporin or severe beta-lactam hypersensitivity, and in premature or jaundiced neonates due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Concomitant administration with calcium-containing intravenous solutions is forbidden due to precipitation risks.
