Semhil Tablet 14mg

Semhil Tablet 14mg is an oral antidiabetic formulation containing semaglutide (14mg), a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It acts by selectively binding to and activating GLP-1 receptors on pancreatic beta cells, stimulating glucose-dependent insulin secretion while suppressing glucagon release. Additionally, it delays gastric emptying and acts on central hypothalamic pathways to increase satiety, thereby significantly reducing fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and promoting substantial weight reduction. Clinically, Semhil 14mg is indicated as a maximum-strength maintenance dose, alongside diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is prescribed for patients who require additional glycemic control after completing at least 30 days on the 7mg maintenance dose. The tablet must be taken once daily upon waking, swallowed whole on an empty stomach with a small sip of plain water (no more than 4 ounces/120mL). Patients must wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other oral medications to ensure adequate gastric absorption. It is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, and constipation.
