Scirica Capsule 75mg

Scirica Cap 75mg is an oral neuropathic analgesic and anticonvulsant medication containing pregabalin (75mg). It acts by binding with high affinity to the alpha-2-delta (α 2 ​ δ) auxiliary subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in central nervous system neurons. By modulating these hyper-excited calcium channels, it suppresses the presynaptic release of excitatory neurotransmitters—including glutamate, substance P, and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). This mechanism dampens aberrant neuronal hyperexcitability and stabilizes nociceptive pain signaling pathways without directly binding to GABA A ​ or GABA B ​ receptors. Clinically, Scirica 75mg is indicated for managing peripheral and central neuropathic pain (including diabetic peripheral neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia), fibromyalgia, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults. The standard starting dose is 75mg twice daily (150mg/day), taken orally with or without food, and may be titrated under clinical supervision. Capsules must be swallowed whole with water. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin. Common side effects include somnolence, dizziness, peripheral edema, xerostomia (dry mouth), weight gain, and blurred vision. Abrupt discontinuation must be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
