Sandostatin 0.1mg Ampoule contains octreotide, a synthetic somatostatin analogue that reduces the release of growth hormone and several digestive hormones. It is prescribed for certain hormone-related conditions, including acromegaly and symptoms caused by functional gastro-entero-pancreatic endocrine tumours, such as severe diarrhoea and flushing. Depending on local prescribing guidance, it may also be used in hospital settings to help prevent complications after pancreatic surgery or manage bleeding from gastro-oesophageal varices alongside specific treatment. Each 1ml ampoule provides 0.1mg, equivalent to 100 micrograms, of octreotide.
