Regaflo 5mg Tablets contain solifenacin succinate, a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist indicated for the chronic management of overactive bladder (OAB). By selectively binding to M3 muscarinic receptors in the detrusor muscle wall, it inhibits acetylcholine-mediated bladder contractions. This mechanism effectively reduces urinary urgency, decreases voiding frequency, and prevents episodes of urge urinary incontinence by allowing the bladder to retain larger volumes of urine. The standard adult dosage is one 5mg tablet taken once daily, with or without food. Tablets must be swallowed whole to maintain structural integrity. The daily dose must strictly not exceed 5mg in patients presenting with severe renal impairment, moderate hepatic impairment, or those concurrently taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole. Regaflo is strictly contraindicated in patients with urinary retention, severe gastrointestinal retention, or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma. Due to its systemic anticholinergic properties, common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, and dyspepsia. Furthermore, because solifenacin suppresses sweating, patients must exercise caution in hot climates to avoid hyperthermia.
