Polypep Tablet 20mg contains famotidine, a medicine used to reduce excessive acid production in the stomach. It belongs to a group of medicines called histamine H2-receptor antagonists, commonly known as H2 blockers. Famotidine works by blocking histamine at H2 receptors on stomach cells, thereby decreasing the amount of acid released. Polypep may be prescribed for gastroesophageal reflux disease, heartburn, acid indigestion, stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and other conditions associated with excessive gastric acid. By reducing acidity, it helps relieve burning discomfort, sour regurgitation, upper abdominal pain, and irritation of the oesophagus while supporting ulcer healing. Take the tablet exactly as directed by your doctor, with or without food. The dose and treatment duration depend on the condition, age, kidney function, and response to therapy.
