Ospamox Tablets 500mg

Ospamox 500mg Tablets are an oral, broad-spectrum aminopenicillin antibacterial formulation containing amoxicillin (as trihydrate). It exerts a rapid bactericidal effect by binding irreversibly to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located within the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This binding completely inhibits the transpeptidation enzymes responsible for cross-linking peptidoglycan chains, disrupting structural synthesis and causing cell wall degradation and rapid autolysis. It demonstrates robust in vitro activity against numerous Gram-positive and Gram-negative micro-organisms, though it remains susceptible to degradation by beta-lactamases. Clinically, Ospamox 500mg is indicated for managing mild-to-moderate susceptible bacterial infections. Primary indications include community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, acute otitis media, streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, skin structure infections, and as a core component of combination regimens targeting Helicobacter pylori eradication. The standard adult dosage is 500mg administered three times daily, or 1000mg two times daily, determined by clinical severity and localized resistance patterns. Tablets can be taken independently of food intake. It is strictly contraindicated in patients with a history of true penicillin hypersensitivity. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, transient skin rash, and urticaria.
