Meroget 1g IV Injection is an ultra-broad-spectrum, injectable carbapenem antibiotic containing sterile meropenem. It operates by rapidly penetrating the bacterial cell wall and binding irreversibly to multiple penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), primarily PBP-2, PBP-3, and PBP-4. This action completely inhibits peptidoglycan cross-linking, halting cell wall synthesis and triggering rapid bacterial autolysis. Notably, meropenem exhibits high stability against degradation by most bacterial beta-lactamases and cephalosporinases. Clinically, Meroget 1g is indicated for severe or polymicrobial infections in adults and pediatric patients. Primary indications include nosocomial pneumonia, complicated intra-abdominal infections, severe bacterial meningitis, complicated urinary tract infections, skin structure infections, and management of febrile neutropenia. Administration is strictly via intravenous (IV) infusion over 15 to 30 minutes, or as an IV bolus injection over 3 to 5 minutes, typically dosed every 8 hours. It is strictly contraindicated in patients with established hypersensitivity to meropenem, other carbapenems, or those with severe anaphylactic history to penicillins. Dosage modifications are mandatory in renal impairment. Common adverse effects include diarrhea, nausea, headache, localized inflammation, and transient elevations in liver enzymes.
