Medigesic Forte Tablet

Medigesic Forte Tablet is a dual-action oral muscle relaxant and analgesic combination medication containing Paracetamol (450mg) and Orphenadrine Citrate (35mg). It operates through complementary central and peripheral pathways to relieve musculoskeletal pain and muscle spasms. Paracetamol acts primarily in the central nervous system by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis via cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and elevating the pain threshold. Concurrently, Orphenadrine Citrate functions as a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant with anticholinergic and antihistaminic properties. It acts on the brainstem and spinal interneurons to reduce hyperactive muscle tone and relieve involuntary painful muscle spasms without directly relaxing skeletal muscle or impairing motor function. Clinically, Medigesic Forte is indicated for the symptomatic relief of acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle spasms, lower back pain, tension headaches, sprains, strains, torticollis, and traumatic muscle injuries. The standard adult dosage is 1 to 2 tablets taken orally three times daily, swallowed with water after meals to minimize gastric irritation. It is contraindicated in patients with glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, urinary retention, pyloric or duodenal obstruction, myasthenia gravis, or known hypersensitivity to paracetamol or orphenadrine.
