Lodopin-V Tablets 5mg/160mg contain amlodipine 5mg and valsartan 160mg. These two ingredients lower blood pressure in different ways. Amlodipine helps blood vessels relax, while valsartan blocks the action of a hormone that narrows them. Your doctor may prescribe this combination when one treatment alone does not control high blood pressure adequately. Take Lodopin-V exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. It can generally be taken with or without food. High blood pressure often causes no noticeable symptoms, so keep taking your tablets even when you feel well. Do not stop treatment without speaking to your doctor. Regular blood pressure checks help show whether the treatment is working. Possible side effects include dizziness, headache and swelling of the ankles or feet. Your doctor may also check your kidney function and potassium levels. Mention any potassium supplements, salt substitutes or other blood pressure treatments you use. Do not take Lodopin-V during pregnancy: valsartan can harm an unborn baby.
