Lcyn Tablets 500mg contain levofloxacin, a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. Your doctor may prescribe it for infections affecting the lungs, urinary tract or skin when the bacteria are likely to respond to levofloxacin. It works by interfering with bacterial DNA processes needed for growth. It does not treat colds, flu or other viral illnesses. Take Lcyn exactly as prescribed and complete the course unless your doctor tells you to stop. Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food. The dose and treatment length depend on the infection and your kidney function. Ask a pharmacist how to separate it from antacids, iron, zinc or multivitamins, which can reduce absorption. Do not share your prescription. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, headache and dizziness. Levofloxacin can occasionally cause serious tendon injury, nerve problems or changes in blood sugar. Stop taking it and contact a doctor promptly if you develop tendon pain, tingling, numbness or severe symptoms.
