Gneb 2.5mg Tablet contains nebivolol (2.5mg), a modern heart medication known as a cardioselective beta-blocker. It works through a dual-action mechanism to lower blood pressure and reduce strain on the heart. First, it selectively blocks beta-1 receptors in the heart muscle, slowing down a fast heart rate and reducing pumping effort. Second, it stimulates the release of nitric oxide in blood vessel walls, which relaxes and widens tight arteries. This combined action allows blood to flow more smoothly throughout the body while keeping resting heart rate and blood pressure within a healthy range.Clinically, Gneb 2.5mg is prescribed to treat essential hypertension (high blood pressure) and to manage stable chronic heart failure, often alongside standard therapies in elderly patients. The standard starting dosage is 2.5mg once daily, swallowed whole with water, at the same time each day, with or without food. Doctors may adjust the dose based on individual patient response. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment, slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure, severe asthma, or heart block.
