Gastrol Syrup 120ml is an antacid and antiflatulent oral suspension formulation designed to neutralize gastric acid and relieve gastrointestinal gas. It typically combines non-systemic antacids such as Magnesium Hydroxide and Aluminum Hydroxide with Simethicone. The antacid components work by reacting chemically with free hydrochloric acid ($HCl$) in the stomach, raising intragastric pH and suppressing pepsin activity to protect the mucosal lining. Concurrently, Simethicone acts as a surfactant that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles within the gastrointestinal tract, causing them to coalesce into larger bubbles that can be eliminated more easily via eructation or flatus.Clinically, Gastrol Syrup is indicated for the symptomatic relief of hyperacidity, peptic ulcer pain, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, gastritis, and abdominal bloating associated with trapped gas.The typical adult dosage is 10 to 20 mL (2 to 4 teaspoonfuls) four times daily, taken 20–60 minutes after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a healthcare provider. Shake the bottle well before each use.It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure, hypophosphatemia, or hypersensitivity to any ingredient.
