Galvus Tablets 50mg contain vildagliptin, an oral antidiabetic medicine used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is prescribed together with a suitable diet and regular exercise and may be used alone when metformin is unsuitable, or with other diabetes medicines, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Vildagliptin belongs to the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class. It increases the activity of incretin hormones, helping the pancreas release more insulin when blood glucose is high while reducing glucagon and glucose production by the liver.
