Fludarabine AHP 50mg Injection contains fludarabine phosphate, a cytotoxic chemotherapy medicine belonging to the purine analogue antimetabolite class. It is primarily used in specialist treatment protocols for chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and may be used for selected non-Hodgkin lymphomas or other blood cancers. Fludarabine interferes with DNA synthesis and repair, preventing abnormal blood cells from multiplying. It must be prepared and administered intravenously by trained oncology professionals. The dose and treatment schedule are determined according to body surface area, diagnosis, treatment response, kidney function, blood counts, and other medicines being used. Major risks include severe bone-marrow suppression, serious or opportunistic infections, autoimmune destruction of blood cells, neurological toxicity, and tumour lysis syndrome.
