Ferfix-FA Tablets are an oral hematinic formulation combining 100mg of elemental iron (as Iron III-Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex) and 0.35mg of folic acid. The polynuclear iron core is structurally integrated within a water-soluble carbohydrate polymer mantle, closely mimicking physiological ferritin. This design ensures stable, controlled macromolecular iron absorption across the intestinal mucosa via active transport pathways. This non-ionic mechanism significantly reduces gastrointestinal irritation and interactions with dietary components compared to traditional ferrous salts. Concurrently, folic acid serves as an essential coenzyme for nucleic acid synthesis and red blood cell maturation. Clinically, Ferfix-FA is indicated for the prevention and treatment of latent iron deficiency, iron deficiency anemia (IDA), and the dual prevention of iron and folic acid deficiencies during preconception, pregnancy, and lactation periods. The standard adult and maternal dosage is one chewable tablet daily, which can be chewed or swallowed whole during or immediately after meals to maximize biological utilization. It is strictly contraindicated in cases of iron overload syndromes, hemoglobinopathies, and hypersensitivity to either active component. Common side effects include dark stool discoloration, mild nausea, and localized dyspepsia.
