Femara Tablets 2.5mg contain letrozole, an aromatase inhibitor used to treat certain hormone receptor-positive breast cancers in postmenopausal women. It may be prescribed after breast surgery as adjuvant treatment, after completing tamoxifen therapy as extended adjuvant treatment, or for locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Letrozole works by blocking the aromatase enzyme, thereby reducing estrogen production and helping slow the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer cells. Femara is generally taken once daily, with or without food, exactly as prescribed by an oncologist. Common side effects may include hot flushes, joint or bone pain, tiredness, headache, dizziness, nausea, increased sweating, and raised cholesterol levels. Prolonged treatment may reduce bone mineral density and increase the risk of osteoporosis or fractures, so bone health and cholesterol levels may require monitoring.
