ELM XR 25/5/1000mg Tablets are an extended-release combination medicine used with diet and exercise to improve blood-sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Each tablet contains empagliflozin 25mg, linagliptin 5mg, and metformin hydrochloride XR 1000mg. Empagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that helps the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine. Linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that supports glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon activity. Metformin lowers glucose production in the liver and improves the body’s response to insulin. Together, these three medicines target different causes of raised blood sugar and may simplify treatment for patients who require combination therapy. Take ELM XR exactly as prescribed, usually with food, and swallow the extended-release tablet whole without crushing, chewing, or splitting it. Common effects may include nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, increased urination, urinary or genital infections, thirst, and dizziness. Low blood sugar is more likely when it is combined with insulin or a sulfonylurea. Patients with kidney problems, dehydration, recurrent infections, or a history of pancreatitis should inform their doctor. It is not intended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis treatment.
