Duricef 100 mg/mL Paediatric Drops are a prescription antibiotic containing cefadroxil, a first-generation cephalosporin used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Doctors may prescribe this medicine for certain throat and tonsil infections, urinary tract infections, and skin or soft-tissue infections in children. Cefadroxil works by disrupting bacterial cell-wall formation, weakening and killing susceptible bacteria. It does not treat viral illnesses such as colds or influenza. The drops should be prepared and given exactly according to the packaging and the child’s doctor. Shake the bottle thoroughly before every dose and measure the prescribed quantity with the supplied dropper or an accurate oral syringe. Paediatric dosage is calculated according to body weight, infection type, severity, kidney function, and clinical response. Complete the full prescribed course even if the child begins to feel better. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, rash, or itching. Seek urgent medical assistance if breathing difficulty, facial swelling, a severe skin reaction, or persistent watery or bloody diarrhoea develops.
