Corticort Tablet 10mg contains hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid medicine that replaces or supplements cortisol naturally produced by the adrenal glands. It may be prescribed as hormone-replacement therapy for adrenal insufficiency, including Addison’s disease and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Hydrocortisone also reduces inflammation and suppresses excessive immune responses, allowing it to be used for selected allergic, inflammatory, and autoimmune conditions. The dose and treatment duration depend on the patient’s diagnosis, response, and physical stress level. Take Corticort exactly as directed, preferably with food to reduce stomach irritation. Patients receiving replacement therapy may require adjusted doses during illness, surgery, injury, or severe stress, but changes must only be made under medical supervision. Do not stop long-term treatment suddenly because this can cause potentially dangerous adrenal insufficiency. Common side effects include indigestion, increased appetite, mood changes, fluid retention, elevated blood pressure, or increased blood glucose.
