Co-Amoxi 625mg Tablets are a broad-spectrum oral antibacterial combination consisting of amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) in a 4:1 ratio. Each film-coated tablet delivers 500mg of amoxicillin, a penicillin derivative that disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, and 125mg of clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that binds and inactivates bacterial defense enzymes, preserving amoxicillin’s therapeutic efficacy against resistant strains. This intermediate oral strength is indicated for mild-to-moderate infections in adults and pediatric patients weighing 40kg or more, including acute bacterial sinusitis, acute otitis media, community-acquired pneumonia, cystitis, pyelonephritis, and skin or soft tissue infections. The standard adult regimen is one 625mg tablet two to three times daily, depending on infection severity. It should be administered at the start of a meal to maximize clavulanic acid bioavailability and mitigate gastrointestinal intolerance. It is strictly contraindicated in individuals with known penicillin hypersensitivity or prior co-amoxiclav-associated hepatic dysfunction. Dosage modifications are mandatory in patients with a creatinine clearance less than 30ml/min. Common adverse effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and mucosal candidiasis.
