Co-Amoxi 375mg Tablets are a broad-spectrum oral antibacterial combination consisting of amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) in a 2:1 ratio. Each tablet delivers 250mg of amoxicillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, and 125mg of clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that deactivates bacterial defense enzymes to prevent amoxicillin degradation. This lower-strength oral formulation is indicated for treating mild-to-moderate infections in adults and children, including acute otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, lower respiratory tract infections, cystitis, and skin or soft tissue infections. The standard adult dosage is one 375mg tablet three times daily (every 8 hours). It must be administered at the start of a meal to maximize the absorption of clavulanic acid and effectively minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Co-Amoxi 375mg is strictly contraindicated in patients with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity or co-amoxiclav-associated hepatic impairment. Unlike higher-dose combinations, it can be utilized with appropriate dose modifications in renal impairment. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and oral or vaginal candidiasis.
