Co-Amoxi Tablet 1gm

Co-Amoxi 1g Tablets are a high-potency, broad-spectrum oral antibacterial combination consisting of amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) in a 7:1 ratio. Each film-coated tablet contains 875mg of amoxicillin, a penicillin derivative that halts bacterial cell wall synthesis, and 125mg of clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that irreversibly binds and inactivates bacterial defense enzymes, preventing the destruction of amoxicillin. Clinically, Co-Amoxi 1g is indicated for severe or recurrent infections in adults and adolescents weighing 40kg or more, including acute bacterial sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, pyelonephritis, complicated skin structure infections, and severe dental abscesses. The standard dosage is one tablet twice daily, taken at the start of a meal to enhance systemic absorption of clavulanic acid and minimize gastrointestinal intolerance. This formulation is strictly contraindicated in individuals with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity or co-amoxiclav-induced hepatic impairment. It is not recommended for patients with a creatinine clearance less than 30ml/min. Common adverse events include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and mucosal candidiasis.
