Co-Amoxi DS Syrup 312.50mg/60ml is a broad-spectrum, double-strength pediatric antibacterial suspension combining amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate). Every 5ml of the reconstituted liquid delivers 250mg of amoxicillin, which actively destroys bacterial cell walls, and 62.5mg of clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that shields amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation by resistant bacterial strains. This medication is primarily indicated for moderate-to-severe bacterial infections, including acute otitis media, sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, skin structure infections, and urinary tract infections. The powder must be reconstituted with cooled, boiled water to the fill line, shaken vigorously, and stored strictly in a refrigerator (2°C–8°C) for a maximum of 7 to 10 days. Dosage is determined by patient weight and infection severity. It should be administered at the start of a meal to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal distress. Co-Amoxi DS is strictly contraindicated in patients with known penicillin allergies or a history of cholestatic jaundice. Common adverse effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and mucosal candidiasis (thrush).
