Clupam Tablet 2mg is an oral psychotropic medication containing clonazepam (2mg), a long-acting benzodiazepine derivative. It operates primarily by binding to allosteric sites on post-synaptic $GABA_A$ receptors in the central nervous system, enhancing the inhibitory activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This enhancement increases neuronal membrane permeability to chloride ions, causing hyperpolarination and stabilizing neuronal hyperexcitability. Consequently, Clupam produces pronounced anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, sedative, muscle relaxant, and central nervous system depressant effects.Clinically, Clupam 2mg is indicated for the management of panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia) and epilepsy/seizure disorders, including myoclonic, absence, akinetic, and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome variants, either as monotherapy or adjunctive treatment.The standard initial dosing for adults typically starts lower (e.g., 0.25–0.5mg daily) and is gradually titrated up to 1mg to 4mg daily in divided doses based on patient response and clinical evaluation.It is contraindicated in acute narrow-angle glaucoma, severe hepatic impairment, myasthenia gravis, severe respiratory insufficiency, and known hypersensitivity. Common side effects include drowsiness, ataxia, fatigue, dizziness, cognitive impairment, and dependence risks with prolonged use.
