Bismol 265mg Tablets contain bismuth subsalicylate (commonly rounded from 262mg), a versatile antidiarrheal and mucosal protective agent used to provide multi-symptom gastrointestinal relief. In the digestive tract, it dissociates into bismuth and salicylic acid, exerting local antimicrobial, anti-secretory, and anti-inflammatory actions to soothe the enteric lining. Clinically, Bismol is indicated for treating acute diarrhea, traveler's diarrhea, and symptoms of an upset stomach due to overindulgence, including heartburn, indigestion, nausea, gas, and abdominal fullness.The standard adult regimen is 2 tablets chewed or swallowed every 30 minutes to an hour as needed, strictly not exceeding 16 tablets within 24 hours or continuing use beyond 2 days. Due to the risk of life-threatening Reye's syndrome, Bismol is strictly contraindicated in children or teenagers recovering from viral infections like the flu or chickenpox. It must be avoided by individuals with aspirin allergies, bleeding disorders, or active ulcers. Expect a harmless, temporary darkening of the stool and tongue. Concomitant use with anticoagulants or daily aspirin require careful medical supervision
