ABIRA‑AHP Tablet 250mg contains abiraterone acetate, an oral hormonal anticancer medicine used in specialist treatment plans for metastatic prostate cancer. Abiraterone blocks CYP17, an enzyme involved in producing androgens such as testosterone. Reducing androgen production helps slow the growth of prostate cancer cells that depend on these hormones. It is generally prescribed together with a corticosteroid such as prednisone or prednisolone and continued medical or surgical suppression of testicular androgen production. Take ABIRA‑AHP exactly as directed by the oncologist on an empty stomach—at least one hour before or two hours after food. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Food can significantly increase absorption and the risk of serious adverse effects. Common effects include tiredness, joint discomfort, hot flushes, diarrhoea, swelling, high blood pressure, low potassium, and abnormal liver tests. Blood pressure, potassium levels, fluid retention, and liver function require regular monitoring. Inform the oncology team about heart disease, liver problems, adrenal disorders, or other medicines being used. Abiraterone can harm an unborn baby; appropriate contraception and safe tablet-handling precautions are necessary.
